Few people do not know about Jolly’s but some think it is closing and it isn’t. There is a note on the door which tries to explain.
The Post Office section will remain open [at least until the contract runs out]
Newspapers and consumables like bread and milk will not be stocked, and other items may not be restocked when they run out.
It is likely that sweets for the children will be sold. Newspapers are likely to be sold from an establishment nearby. Nothing is cast in stone, [and maybe things will be stocked if we continue to visit and purchase].
Jollys is a commercial business and has to make sales to stay in business; it is available for sale if you wish to purchase it and run it as a shop.
A few local citizens have expressed an interest in operating some kind of community shop/service, whether involving Jollys or not.
Remember that a shop adds value to houses in the village but it can only operate if people shop there; it is not a social service. Even the ‘Big Society’ cannot keep a shop going that doesn’t sell enough.
